Fairview Health Services is searching for enthusiastic RNs looking for a rewarding career in our busy Surgical Specialties Unit located at our Edina, Minnesota campus. This is a night position, 12 hour shifts with every third weekend. Benefit eligible.
Our 39-bed Surgical Specialties Unit serves a high acuity, diverse population of both surgical and medical patients, including Thoracic, Cardiovascular, Peripheral Vascular, GI, and Bariatric. Station 33 is an energetic, fast-paced, complex environment offering advanced learning opportunities for the right candidate while partnering with an experienced multidisciplinary team.
The Medical Surgical RN is responsible for managing the care of the young adult, adult or elderly patient experiencing general medical conditions or general surgical procedures, which require general assessments related to specific conditions, and general therapies and interventions. The Medical Surgical RN is responsible to the Nurse Manager for assigned Surgical Specialty Unit.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Responsibilities / Job Description:

Conducts ongoing assessments as determined by patients condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and reprioritizes care accordingly.
Pain Management including; administer medications, record, assess and observe patient progress, reactions and symptoms.
Establish and implement nursing care plans for each patient through assessment, development, activation, evaluation and discharge.
Organize, assign and supervise duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader; orient and teach new staff members of the nursing team and students.
Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and facility.
Participate in non-clinical assignments, which may include serving on special committees.
Active MN RN License.
Current licensure in good standing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare provider certification.
Communicate with and educate patients and families who come from a diverse background.
Evidence of 1 year of adult medical surgical nursing experience within the past two years.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
Excellent customer service and communication.
Ability to perform nursing duties required for assigned clinical setting.
