Fairview Ridges Hospital, located in Burnsville, Minnesota is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our busy Perianesthesia team. We perform approximately 10,000 surgical cases per year in out 14 OR rooms using the latest in technology. Our team of nurses and techs/nursing assistants work closely with multiple disciplines to provide a patient and family centered experience. The open position is Benefit Eligible position at a .6 FTE (48 hours in two weeks), and is 8 hour rotating shifts with varied start times. Monday- Friday. The position includes night call approximately 1-2 times per month during the week and every 4 th weekend call commitment. Holiday call is rotated amongst the team . Schedules are created with a preferred self-scheduling model, staff input is considered in scheduling practices.
Shifts: Two starting at 2 pm and one starting and 12 noon
Reports to nurse manager
Unit supports 12 PACU bays and 20 Pre/Post op bays. Includes a proactive pre-admitting department that prepares patients in advance of their visit and collaborates closely with Anesthesia.

Responsibilities/Job Description
RN will complete pre-op assessments, monitor patients having blocks prior to procedures, and provide recovery care for patients in PACU Phase 1 and Phase 2. Procedures range from out-patient to surgical admissions, and include pediatric to geriatric patient population. Phase 1 PACU has 12 bays, Phase 2 discharge area and Pre-op area includes private rooms and a child play area. Child life is available on site to work with the pediatric patient. Some specific duties include pre-admission phone calls, admissions day of surgery, monitoring andcontinuously assessing patients following procedure until ready for transfer to the floor-as well as Phase 2 care to include intensive patient education that assures readiness for discharge to home. Critical care skills needed to include airway and hemodynamic management, pain management, and excellent assessment skills for patients in altered states of consciousness. Will evaluate patient responses to interventions including; administration of medication, responses to anesthesia, and risks related to surgical procedures.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1 year experience as RN in a PACU/ ICU/ED or other critical care areas, including experience with advanced airways and telemetry.
MN RN licensure or by start date
Current BLS for healthcare providers
ACLS with AHA as health care provider
Flexibility in scheduling including; rotating day/eve shifts, holiday, weekend and night call hour rotation
Comfortable using computers
Ability to work with a diverse patient populations and ages
The position includes night call approximately 1-2 times per month during the week and every 4 th weekend call commitment

Preferred qualifications:
Bachelors in Nursing or willingness to obtain
3 years of experience as RN in PACU, Perianesthesia, ED, or critical care setting
PAL or PEARS certification or within 6 months of orientation must obtain
Perianesthesia certification
