The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is accountable to the Chief of Anesthesia at the Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System, and is responsible for providing the most effective delivery of anesthesia care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. Major Duties Include but are not limited to: Pre-anesthesia, peri-anesthesia, and post-anesthesia care in outpatient and inpatient settings, under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist. Administration of general anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, epidural anesthesia, and regional anesthesia in collaboration with the anesthesiologist. Performing thorough pre/peri/post-anesthesia assessments and develop individualized anesthesia patient care plans. Emergency airway management in the hospital. Placement of intravenous catheters and intra-arterial lines Assisting with process improvement and quality assurance activities specific to the department as needed. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 40 hours per week including weekend/night shifts with on-call responsibilities (including irregular tours of duty) commensurate with other CRNAs in the department; however, subject to change, depending on the needs of the medical center.
