Nurse (Operative Care)
Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) plans, directs, and coordinates the care of every Veteran undergoing operative and other invasive procedures. The Perioperative RN identifies Veterans' needs, sets goals with patients, and implements nursing interventions and activities to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The Perioperative RN is concerned with the patient's safety as well as physiological and behavioral responses throughout the surgical experience. Perioperative Registered Nurse provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients and families in the perioperative arena. The nurse practices as a Perioperative RN in the Operating Room (OR) providing nursing care in a scrub and/or circulating nurse role.
