The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centers(MSK)Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship program provides Nurse Practitioners andPhysicianAssistants the opportunity totrain at one of the top cancer centers in the United States. ThisFellowshipProgram began over 40 years ago in Hospice and Palliative CarewithoneAPP Fellow andnow accepts over fifteenAPP Fellows in sixdistinctdisciplines. The Fellows are mentored by an interdisciplinary team of experiencedoncologycliniciansserving patients from aroundthe world.

Upon graduation from theFellowship, the APP will be proficient in the delivery of exceptional comprehensive care of the oncology patient.
Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Fellowship Neurology/Neurosurgery
The goal of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centers Advanced Practice Provider Neurology/Neurosurgery Oncology Fellowship is to promote practice transition and professional development to the Neurology/Neurosurgical oncology patient population as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Clinical Fellow responsibilities will include :
- Gathering a comprehensive patient history
- Comprehensive physical examination
- Comprehensive neurology examination
- Ordering and analyzing diagnostic studies
- Formulating and implementing treatment plans
- Evaluating response to treatment
- Coordination of patient care
- Active participation within the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Participate in the implementation of patient education and clinical support programs to ensure optimal care throughout the healthcare continuum
Successful completion of the APP Neurology/Neurosurgery Fellowship Program will be established by successful completion of the designated fellowship competencies, including a comprehensive evaluation and demonstration of skills.
Clinical Rotations
The program will consist of rotations in Neurology, Neurosurgery, and the Neuro Acute Care Unit. The APP Fellow will also have extended rotations with Radiation Oncology, Radiology, and the outpatient clinics.
Neurology/Neurosurgery Inpatient The Fellow will provide direct patient care, as part of a collaborative team, to the neuro-oncology patient who is recovering from a neurosurgical procedure, receiving chemotherapy for CNS lymphoma, or requiring symptom management and treatment of an acute neurocritical illness.
Neurology/Neurosurgery Outpatient In the outpatient setting, the Fellow will have the opportunity to rotate through the Urgent Care Center, the Neurology, Neuro-Oncology, and Neurosurgery clinics. These comprehensive clinics provide outpatient care to the new patient seeking consultation, the postoperative Neurosurgery patient, established care visits for routine management, and urgent care visits including symptom management with appropriate escalation, as needed.
Neurology Acute Care Unit While rotating within this closed Neuro unit, the Fellow will have the opportunity to evaluate, manage, and implement treatment for the critically ill neuro-oncology patient. The Fellow will collaborate closely with Intensivists from the ICU, the Neurology Attending, and the Neurosurgery Attending to provide comprehensive care to the neurocritical patient.

Eligibility & Requirements
You are a highly motivated critical thinker with a strong desire to care for a diverse adult neurology population. You are interested in utilizing comprehensive neurologic assessments and research to improve outcomes for cancer patients. You are empathetic, resourceful, communicate well, and enjoy working inter-professionally. You are seeking a fellowship position in an environment that fosters mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Applicants must be trained at the masters level as an:
- Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner
- Adult/Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Family Nurse Practitioner
- Physician Assistant
All applicants must:
- Have current New York State RN and NP licenses, or PA license and appropriate NP/PA board certification
- Be graduates of an accredited Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, and/or Physician Assistant program in the United States

We are seeking evidence of your qualifications and aptitude as well as your ability to communicate clearly and professionally. Personal statements should be no more than 500 words, typed, and double spaced using 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font.
Letters of recommendation should be from the following sources: Peer/Colleague, current or prior work supervisor, Advanced Practice Clinical Instructor, Faculty, Program Director, or Preceptor.
