Loyola Ambulatory Surgery Center is a multi-specialty, 3 OR, outpatient surgery center, primarily performing orthopedics, ENT, plastic, podiatry and pain management procedures. We are looking for positive, energetic, experienced Nurses with a proven track record of delivery excellent service to physicians, patients, and other teammates. Accountabilities / Responsibilities: Position Description: We are seeking experienced PREOP/PACU Registered Nurses who are dependable, detail-oriented, skilled problem solvers, and who have a collaborative, friendly working style. Qualified candidates must have a proven track record of delivering superior service to patients, physicians, and teammates. The PREOP/PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and coordinating patient care from pre-admission to discharge.
Primary Responsibilities:
â¢Responsible for the overall achievement of patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, and to provide safe, quality healthcare. â¢Assesses physical and emotional needs of the patient and implements appropriate nursing interventions. â¢Admits and prepares patients for surgery. â¢Provide assistance to the anesthesiologist when administering various nerve blocks. â¢Receive patients in PACU. Assessment of the patient's status and provide appropriate care. â¢Review postoperative discharge instructions with the patient and/or family member. â¢Demonstrates safe medication practices. â¢Set priorities to facilitate the flow of patients efficiently. â¢Make preoperative and postoperative patient phone calls. â¢Prepare and restock department for the following day. â¢Competent and responsive to emergency situations. Qualifications: â¢Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing â¢Current Illinois Nursing License â¢At least 1 year of prior PREOP, PACU, or critical care experience â¢Current BLS Certification or completion within 90 days of employment â¢Current ACLS Certification or completion within 90 days of employment
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Physically demanding, high-stress environment
Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
Pushing and pulling heavy objects
Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients and equipment
Manual and finger dexterity
Hand eye coordination
Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs
Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
Working irregular hours
Qualifications
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
One year of PACU experience preferred.
Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Course within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.
Specialty certification in Perioperative Nursing or Perianesthesia is preferred.
