Transfusion Safety Officer
Job SummaryThe Transfusion Safety Officer (TSO) serves an important role in improving transfusion safety outside of the laboratory through education and active surveillance of the transfusion process including but not limited to: patient identification, blood administration, appropriate ordering practices, transfusion reactions, incidents, and near misses. The TSO collaborates with the interdisciplinary team and assesses, plans, develops, implements and evaluates education activities, and initiatives related to the transfusion safety program. The TSO leads and supports patient blood management encompassing blood utilization review, minimization of perioperative blood loss, and documentation review; as well as quality
