Job Summary
The Child Life Therapist is responsible for planning and implementing programs and activities designed to reduce stress caused by hospitalization, considering normal human development and the impact that illness, injury, disability, and hospitalization have on this process. The Child Life Therapist will provide programming, including preoperative teaching, diversion activities, procedural support, and developmental play therapy. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Women’s Division
Tampa General Hospital offers a full range of women’s health and pediatric services. This division includes, Mother Baby unit, Ante-Post Partum Unit, Labor & Delivery, Neonatal ICU, Pediatric ICU, Pediatric Medical-Surgical Unit, Pediatric Dialysis, Pediatric Day Hospital, and the Transition Nursery.
Qualifications
Graduate from an approved university with a Bachelor's degree in child life, child psychology, or another closely related field to human development. Successfully completed a 600 hour internship or currently completing them under a Certified Child Life Specialist. Certification or eligibility for Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS)
