State locations and specifics are subject to change as our hiring requirements shift.About the opportunity: The Sterile Processing Supervisor follows the approved infection control and sterile processing policies and procedures. Directs day to day operations, facilitates priorities, builds instrument sets, tracks missing and repairing of instruments, restocks surgical instrumentation. Assists with interviews, competencies, training and counseling notices and payroll.What you will do:Ensures department compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, IAHCSMM, AORN and other professional organization standards.Communicates with the OR staff prior to all surgical cases to ascertain specific instrument and supply needs and ensures these items are available for the case. Resolves issues or offers alternative means when necessary.Oversees and ensures continuing education of E-Learnings and competencies of all SPD technicians and assists with training of other perioperative personnel.Assists in managing personnel in assigned areas including, but not limited to: hiring, interviewing, training, onboarding, coaching, distributing job assignments and maintaining a positive work environment.Monitors and helps Lead SPD Tech prioritize instrument needs to ensure instrumentation is ready and available for all cases as well as instrumentation that must be reprocessed for future procedures and assists with rapid turnovers as needed.Assist in the reprocessing, assembling, and sterilization of all instrumentation in SPD as needed.Addresses issues and concerns with individuals in cooperation with Manager. Promotes collaboration between all members of the perioperative services team. Seeks opportunities to improve processes and develop total instrument management strategies.Reviews and monitors schedules for Vail Health MOR, ESC and VVSC to identify changes, check for potential conflicts, and prioritize instrumentation needs.Monitors intake and release of loaner instrumentation by vendors.Work with lead SPD Techs with daily assignment schedules and planning for next day surgery schedules.Responsible for providing weekend on call schedules in the main OR SPD.Assist with timecard approval when needed.Leads daily huddles and communicates department needs.Orders and replaces instrumentation, building sets, creating count sheets.Checks expiration dates on supplies and orders and organizes supplies as needed.Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.Perform other duties as assigned.
