Position Summary
THIS POSITION IS FOR NIGHT COVERAGE that will be 3 - 13 hour Night Shifts a week. No OR time. The Pediatric Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team provides primarily inpatient support for pre and post op general surgery patients. The APP team works closely with our pediatric surgery fellows and surgical residents on their pediatric rotation. This position will provide overnight coverage for the pediatric general surgery and trauma teams. The APP will be expected to follow through on plans made for patients during the day, enter orders, be the primary contact for nursing and family questions, assist with writing notes as needed, facilitate discharges, see consults and direct admissions, attend traumas as needed and admit suspected non accidental trauma patients. This is a growing and evolving team and job responsibilities/hours of coverage will change with growth of the APP team and is dependent on fluctuating resident coverage. The ideal candidate will be an acute care trained provider with an emphasis on pediatrics or experience working with inpatient pediatric population. Prior inpatient pediatric experience is required to be successful in this role. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, flexible, has good communication and interpersonal skills and interested in working with our growing and ever changing Pediatric Surgery APP team. This position requires a PNP-AC certified.
This position works in collaboration with the attending physicians and works within their scope of practice to provide excellent clinical care for patients. Plays a critical role in the patient family medical team. Professional who may practice in hospital’s inpatient and/or outpatient setting.
Education
Master's or Doctorate degree from an Accreditation Commission for Nursing (ACEN) and/or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited graduate school of nursing in Pediatric Acute care, Pediatric primary care or Family Medicine OR Master's degree from nationally accredited ARC-PA program. (Required)
Certifications
Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association or obtained by start date. (Required)
Current State of Arizona certification as a Nurse Practitioner OR Current State of Arizona certification as a Physician Assistant or obtained by start date. (Required)
National board certification to match area of education OR maintain certificate in National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). (Required)
