Your day.

As a Surgical Services OR RN you need to know how to:

• Provide professional nursing care to patients being admitted for surgical and other procedures in the Surgical Services Department, including OR, Pre-op Holding, Endoscopy and Pain Clinic.


• Exhibit flexibility and adaptability to move from department to department as needed and/or directed to meet the patient/staffing needs of all surgical services departments.


• Maintain patient confidentiality as outlined by privacy and HIPAA guidelines


• Ensure that standards which meet Joint Commission and other accrediting organizationsâ™ requirements are maintained and documented.


• Maintain customer satisfaction by accurately accumulating required information and communicating results to appropriate personnel in all departments affected as well as physicians and physician office personnel.


• Optimize customer satisfaction, provider time, and organizational resources effectively, in person or over the phone.


• Maintain awareness of safety needs of patient and provide an atmosphere conducive to patient comfort.


• Plan, organize and implement nursing care interventions based on patient/family needs and circumstantial/procedural complexities.


• Develop age appropriate plan of care in collaboration with patient, family and health care team.


• Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the care of patients undergoing surgical and/or invasive procedures.


• Explain procedures to patient to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension.


• Maintain communication with patients and their families.


• Input physicianâ™s orders appropriately to patientâ™s records.


• Observe patient, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify Physician of patientâ™s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.


• Recognize abnormal test results and contraindications relative to scheduled procedures and reports abnormal results to appropriate physician or department for further guidelines.


• Demonstrate ability to assess/reassess nursing care needs by age group.


• Assess and interpret clinical reports and data to provide optimum care of surgical services patient.

Your experience.

We hire people, not resumes. But we also expect excellence, which is why we require:

• ASN from an accredited program.


• BSN from an accredited program required within 60 months of your hire.


• Current Montana RN license or compact license with the ability to obtain Montana RN license.


• Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.


• Current ACLS and PALS certifications or the ability to obtain within 9 months of hire/transfer.
